Delicious add-on (Firefox 5)

Ever wished you had a backup of your bookmarks? Have you ever sent them to yourself by e-mail as a way to save them? Nowadays, there is an easier way to keep them and organize them.

del.icio.us is a social bookmarking service online. That means you will be able to access all of your bookmarks from any computer any time instead of just keeping them on your own, which is kind of…uhm…old school.

First of all, you need to create a del.icio.us account. It is simple and fast.
The instructions for each browser can be found in the homepage just as you signed in; however, if you are using Firefox 5 like me, the process is different but still easy.

Go to add-ons Firefox and on the search field, type delicious and press Enter. The first option you will see is “Delicious Bookmarks”. Click on the add button and wait for it to install. It will ask you to restart Firefox so go ahead.

Once it is reinitiated, you will notice there are new icons on the menu bar. That is the result of the previous installation, and of course they all are related to del.icio.us:

  1. When clicking on this button, it will take you to the del.icio.us web site.
  2. This button shows the bookmarks and tags you have recently used/added
  3. You will use this button every time you want to add a bookmark.
  4. This button has a drop-down menu that allows you to view and manage your tags and bookmarks.

I will go through details on tags for the next entry so make sure to stay tuned!
